When was the last time you went to a hotel and said, "this is the best smelling hotel I've ever been to....?" The Royal Park Canvas Hotel Kitahama is such a place. It's stunning as you walk in. Beautiful ambience and it is sparkling clean. Did I mention it smells really good? It smelt nice in the lift, the lobby and even as you exit the conveniently located subway exit/entrance, you can start to smell the beautiful fragrance from the hotel. 😁 The hotel has unlimited hot drinks for guests pretty much all day. Then there is happy hour between 18:00-20:00 where you can have highball (whiskey & soda) & wine. They have breakfast and it looks like quite a wide variety to choose from. After 10:00am when everything gets packed away they bring out the pour over coffee machine set up where you can grind your own beans and make yourself a pourover. Just fantastic. Never seen this type of set up let alone in a hotel. The hotel is very hip and the staff are very relaxed. They wear casual clothes and the whole place has that sense that it is about hospitality of the guest. It is just a very nice place to hang out. Guests have access to a very wide range of personal care goods, ranging from hair bands to shaving kits to a fantastic facial care kit. Comes with 4 stage foaming cleansing gel, facial foam serum lotion and a serum milky lotion by the Skin Delights company. Just wonderful stuff. Made my skin feel younger by the end of our stay. 😁😁🤭🤭 Rooms are decently sized. Of course this is Japan and room space is a premium. But there was enough space to manoeuvre your luggage around in the room. The bathriom was very pretty. The shower recess is kitted out with colourful mosaic tiles. Just so cool! If we come back to Osaka again we will definitely stay at The Royal Park Canvas Kitahama!

Location is good. Center of Osaka but not too busy. Metro is right next to the entrance. You literally walk out and turn left and it's there. Some trains can only drop you off within a 10-15min walk from the hotel, depending on which lines and where your plans take you. Umeda station is 2-3stops north. Shinsaibashi and dotenbori is 2 stops south. Easy hub to go all over Osaka and adjacent cities. Brought US dollars with me and there is a family mart right below that has a currency exchange machine and yen rate was 1.66yen per dollar. I had a full itinerary planned so I was on the move as soon as I woke up at 5am in order beat the crowds where I was going, so Family mart came in clutch. Breakfast was huge, not a measly continental breakfast at a Hilton, but a full on American style breakfast buffet with some Japanese foods like cold soba and miso soup. But honestly I just skipped breakfast and ate at the local restaurants where I planned to go. As I said before location is great as the streets are quiet and chill at all times. Starbucks and mos burger are a street over. There are also small shops such as cafes and flower shops perfect for couples. A great little yakiniku or Korean BBQ style restaurant was a 1min walk away. There's a nearby grocery store tucked into a buildings basement that's connected to the underground metro walkways. I say this bc I visited Osaka when the avg temp was 20F with windchill so walking in the tunnels toward the grocery and other buildings with shopping complexes was really nice. If you lived a big city life you'll understand how convenience and people centric infrastructure are what make city life and japan so great. This hotel is no exception.

Kitahama station is right next door and was so convenient to take the Sakaisuji metro line. The busier Midosuji line is also just a 10 min walk away. It was conveniently located by good cafes and restaurants along the river. There is a Family Mart convenience store next door as well. The room is small and we brought smaller/medium sized suitcases and it was a bit of a tight squeeze to open them and walk around them. The bed was comfortable and we liked the shades which kept the room dark in the morning. We were able to store our suitcases in the lobby before check-in. We were also provided tokens per person, per night for a small drink. Free toiletries and other beauty supplies (brushes, hair ties, face masks if they didn't run out) were also provided in the lobby. We were able to do laundry for ¥600 per load. There are only 3 machines and they were often all taken, but we just had to wait until the next one was done. The best part of the hotel is the convenient location to the subway line which made it easy to get around Osaka.

Hotel is super clean and convenient with nearby train station and FamilyMart. Check in and check out procedures were easy. Staff are extremely friendly. Free drinks are included per person. Breakfast buffet is extra if it is not included in the booking but has enough variety to be worth it. Coffee is free and readily available on the lobby floor, and you can walk in to grab it during breakfast hours even if you didn't pay for breakfast. Rooms are not super huge but comfortable enough to fit a couple of large luggage. Beds are comfortable. The bathroom was super clean, probably the cleanest I have ever seen in a hotel. Enjoyed the bathtub and shower combo. There is also a small gym room on the lobby floor that we went to a couple of times. Highly recommend and would book again.

Suzanne

Professional staff with good English. Very friendly to help with luggage transportation requests. Charming lounge/bar area for breakfast and after dinner hangout with a drink. Tasty breakfast buffet, but no variation from day to day. Comfortable beds and pillows. Enough space for working/writing and leaving make-up and other stuff on the tables. Clean cozy bathroom. FYI the bathroom sink area is directly connected with the front door area and only separate to the room by a curtain that can be left open or closed. Shower/bathtub are a separate room with a glass door. Toilet is a separate room with normal door.
